ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
The Archaic sculpture of northern Ionia is much less known than the one of southern Ionia, which is represented by the great centres of Ephesus and Miletus. However, until the Persian conquest of 546 BC northern Ionia was almost equally rich and developed to the southern. Most of the evidence comes from the lower quality production of small scale sculpture as well as in the minor art and numismatics. So far, specific sculpture centres have been located in northern Ionia, while there have been also uncovered works of unknown provenance. |
