ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
The failed rebellion of Leontios against the Emperor Zeno was organized and set in motion by Illos, starting from 482, with the cooperation of augusta Aelia Verina; it was openly manifested in Tarsus of Cilicia during the summer of 484, where Leontios was proclaimed emperor of the Romans. A revolt in the diocese of Oriens followed, which was quenched in fall. The rebellion was definitely suppressed in Cherris (= Papyrios) of Isauria in 488, with the arrest of its leaders. |
