ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
Perplexing arched structure with circular façade, very close to the church of the Dormition of the Virgin in Nicaea. It was probably originally established in the 6th century. Various architectural components (spolia) have been used in the church's interior. A hole resembling a small reservoir in the centre of the floor can be considered as evidence for the use of the building as a sacred spring (hagiasma), at least in its last stage. However, its actual use remains unknown. |
