SUMMARY
The Byzantine province of Osrhoene was founded in the year 298 with Edessa as its metropolis, to the east of the province of Euphratesia. The Persians briefly settled in the area in Late Antiquity. After 663 Osrhoene passed into the possession of the Arabs.
