ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
Roman-Asia Minor style theater, in the city of Selge in the province of Pisidia in southern Turkey. It is the best preserved building of the ancient city. It faces south-east and it was built north of the stadium outside the city-walls. The theatre had a capacity of 8,700 spectators and dates to the middle of 2nd century A.D. During the late antiquity, the theater was used for gladiatorial games. The cavea is nowadays preserved, but the scene building with a two storey columnar screen of Ionic and Corinthian order, has collapsed. |
