ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
A city renown during Antiquity for the cult of Aphrodite, Aphrodisias was incorporated into the Byzantine empire as the metropolis of the province of Caria. In the 7th century the city shrunk, and during the 12th century it was exposed to the raids of the Seljuk Turks. It was finally conquered by the Ottomans after 1261.

Το έργο Μεγάλη Δικτυακή «Εγκυκλοπαίδεια Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού» - Μέρος Α΄ συγχρηματοδοτήθηκε σε ποσοστό 80% από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης (ΕΤΠΑ) και κατά 20% από εθνικούς πόρους στο πλαίσιο του Επιχειρησιακού Προγράμματος "Κοινωνία της Πληροφορίας" του Γ΄ ΚΠΣ.
