ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
One of the oldest lineages in the Empire, known since the late 8th century. For the two following centuries, members of the Melissenos family occupied the highest positions in the state (in the army, the politics and the church). They were associated with Asia Minor through the land they owned and the titles they were awarded on several occasions. Since the late 11th century, the name Melissinos appears in various areas of the empire. The family name was kept alive until after 1453. |
