ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
The aristocratic family of Kourkouas was of Armenian descent and among the most influential aristocratic families of Asia Minor from the 9th century onwards. The family reached its prime in the 10th century, when its members held senior military offices and played a key role in the political life of the empire. From the 11th century onwards certain members of the family would hold political and ecclesiastical offices, while their political power and importance started gradually to decline. |
